In an era marked by rapid technological advancements and evolving job landscapes, cultivating entrepreneurial skills has become imperative.

This course addresses the pressing need for educators to equip students with 21st-century skills, enabling success in the global market, and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit in students within Adult, Vocational Education and Training (VET), or Secondary Education.

The course recognizes the unique challenges and opportunities present in these settings, providing participants with tailored insights and strategies.

By understanding the roots of entrepreneurship and the essential components of a thriving enterprise, participants will be well-prepared to guide students in navigating the complexities of the modern business landscape.

Furthermore, the participants will be able to gain hands-on experiences with entrepreneurial tools, such as the Business (and Social Business) Model Canvas and Design Thinking, to structure and implement innovative business ideas, empowering them to serve as mentors as students embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.

Learning outcomes

The course will help the participants to:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of 21st-century skills requested by the global market;
• Understand the roots of entrepreneurship and the constituting parts of an enterprise;
• Get an overall view of topics to convey while structuring a course in Entrepreneurship for Adult Education and Vocational Training;
• Experience hands-on entrepreneurial tools, such as the Business and Social Business Model Canvas, to structure and implement business ideas;
• Understanding the role of mentoring students as they build their own business ideas.

Tentative schedule

Day 1 – Introduction and Entrepreneurship Education

• Introduction to the course, the city, and the cultural activity;
• Warm-up activities;
• Presentations of the participants’ schools;
• 21st-century skills;  
• Introduction to Entrepreneurship Education.

Day 2 – Finding business opportunities and defining a business value proposition

• Ethics, Corporate Citizenship, and Social Businesses;
• Business opportunities, market research, and customer segmentation;
• Business Model Canvas, customer segmentation, and value proposition.

Day 3 – Business project management and marketing

• Agile Project Management and Design Thinking;
• Branding, marketing, and advertising strategies;
• Dealing with people, building a team, and leadership skills.

Day 4 – Business financials, strategic partnership and mentoring

• Financial planning and budgeting;
• Raising capital and strategic business partnerships;
• Mentoring and coaching your students. 

Day 5 – Drafting a business plan

• Creation of a draft business plan.

Day 6 – Course closure and cultural activities

• Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
• Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
• Excursion and other external cultural activities.
