A 1 week ERASMUS+ Teachers Training Seminar available in Florence and Dublin

The aim of this course is to provide participants with tips and methods for the creation and adaptation of audiovisual resources (photos, movies, music clips, documentaries, news, their own videos...) to teach their subjects in a more effective way. This seminar is not only aimed at language teachers but also to those who wish to incorporate new motivating strategies into their classes.

The use of audiovisual resources has become extremely popular, photos and videos are often the most powerful means to convey messages. Students can actively engage in photos and video projects to dig deeper into the subjects they are dealing with. Photo shooting and video making help student to absorb and retain ideas, and help in the development of communicative, critical, social and creative skills.

During the week participants will learn new skills and new techniques that will lead to a better understanding of the educational power of some of the most famous free software and devices for photo and video making. They will both learn how to manipulate and to create their own visual resources for educational purposes. They will get to know more about tools such as Youtube, Khan Academy, Ed Puzzle, virtual boards.

At the end of this one week course, participants will have added many helpful new skills to their teaching methods. They will have acquired confidence in: using video and photo technologies, back-up and storage of videos and photos from different devices; adding subtitles to their project and managing timelines, audio and photos; uploading and sharing materials.

The method "Teaching Languages through Movie Making", originally developed by our school, has received the European Language Label in 2011.

Guided city tours and 1 full day cultural excursion (usually on Saturday) will also be part of the programme.
